The Stacks project

44.1 Introduction

In this chapter we do just enough work to construct the Picard scheme of a projective nonsingular curve over an algebraically closed field. See [Kleiman-Picard] for a more thorough discussion as well as historical background.

Later in the Stacks project we will discuss Hilbert and Quot functors in much greater generality.
