82.1 Introduction

In this chapter we first discuss Chow groups of algebraic spaces. Having defined these, we define Chern classes of vector bundles as operators on these chow groups. The strategy will be entirely the same as the strategy in the case of schemes. Therefore we urge the reader to take a look at the introduction (Chow Homology, Section 42.1) of the corresponding chapter for schemes.
